Steele's ingenious little classic, Sadie Listens, provides a unique glimpse into that moment of transformation when body-connections are made and inner worlds unfold. We spend huge amounts of time and effort to distract ourselves from the quiet body-knowing beneath our busy thinking. The outer conflict we experience and the social disorder so prevalent in our world today, stem directly from this state of inner disconnection. Sadie Listens is about re-learning the simple, primal habit of linking with your own body. It is a story about peacemaking from the inside.
SUMMARY: Sadie's cat Butch dies, Sadie wonders if she has done something to cause his death. Something inside her feels uneasy. Finally she sits quietly and softly touches where it is inside and the uneasiness tells her that it is hurt and angry, and wants Butch back. So Sadie cries and becomes friends with the feelings inside her. Soon she feels relief-- because she listened.
